Aprons at attention

More booty from a great sale has made it's way out of a box. There are aprons everywhere now. Starch and sizing and a super hot steam iron made a few of these beauties stand to attention. Ironing is definitely not my most fav pastime, but is sorta relaxing in a mundane way. I had flashbacks to the 60's when my mother ironed all evening during tv time.
Expecting to just have a dozen total, I was shocked when the final count was 29! A few were old skirts that had been re-fitted into new duty and then flour sack fabrics and other misc. goodness. The majority were definitely work aprons and had seen their share of it. There were only 2 full aprons and one of those was for a child with the cutest raggedy ann and andy print. The pink roses is a sweet one and fits very nicely. It may stay in my kitchen for a while.

The cutest one of the lot was the red stripe with the adorable pockets. They say it ALL folks!!

BEFORE the kids and chores she had time to gussy up a bit and I am sure Mr. Husband always brought home a bouquet of flowers!.....and, oh my....is that a box of CHOCOLATES??

AFTER.....this tells it like it is.

I can imagine she is greeting him at the door in DESPERATION! You've got to hand it to him though....he is still smiling and bringing her goodies,

even if it is the groceries.

Apron search

Don't ya just hate it when you can't find something that you just saw recently? I have been surfing for the past couple of hours....NO exaggeration! I had seen the cutest apron, but where is it now?
It had been adapted from a nail apron, the type that you can purchase at your lumber yard. It had vintage fabrics applied to the front and pocket flaps. The flaps had embellishments such as a key and other smalls that held the flap tight by a companion magnet on the apron. Now, how clever is that?!
If anyone knows the blog that holds such a treasure....PLEASE release me from my torment and send me a link in the comments. I really thought I had bookmarked it for future perusal. Apparently I need to add a sticky note to my screen.
I pulled out a few of my old textiles. Very few actually, but enough to inspire me. I love to collect these from sales. I was digging through some of the feed sacks and decorative towels and some great old lace. I rarely cut these apart unless they are already tattered beyond repair. I did find a few that will become something new.
This business of cleaning out my armoire is turning into some serious work!

apron sewing frenzy

I started pulling out fabrics and one thing led to another. I have put together 2 cute aprons with a definite western flair. I started pulling out fabrics and one thing led to another. Now, add a couple of piles of trims to sort through and I decide on classic ric rac for accents. You just can't go wrong with ric rac! I have a pile of fabrics and then the trims and they are growing larger in front of me as I watch. And this is just for one simple apron....which turned into 2. You know how those things evolve and now I have groupings for a few more of these cuties. I will get these put together and have them ready for sale soon. Check back often.
